The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has recently notified the Final Selection List for the post of Mistry, under Item No. 241, Divisional Cadre, Kashmir, as per Notification No. 02 of 2021 dated March 26, 2021. The vacancy for this position under the Open Merit (OM) category remains reserved, pending the outcome of the legal case OA No. 737/2023, titled Ashaq Hussain Khanday vs. UT of J&K and Others.

Mohd Younus Bhat, son of Mohd Sadullah Bhat and resident of Kamad, Anantnag, Kashmir, Pin 192210, has been named in a complaint received by the JKSSB. The complaint alleges that Bhat possesses a higher qualification, specifically an M.Sc in Zoology, which exceeds the qualification prescribed for the post of Mistry.

In light of this complaint and the ongoing legal case, the JKSSB has issued an official notice to Mohd Younus Bhat. The notice provides Bhat with a final opportunity to present his case. He must submit documentary evidence and an affidavit supporting his candidature within five days from the issuance of the notice.

Bhat is required to submit these documents either at the JKSSB office located at CPO Chowk Panjtirthi, Jammu, or at the Zam Zam Complex, Rambagh, Srinagar, based on his convenience. Failure to comply with this directive will result in his candidature not being considered for the reserved vacancy.

The JKSSB’s decision to reserve the vacancy under the OM category and issue this notice demonstrates the Board’s commitment to ensuring transparency and fairness in the selection process. The outcome of the legal case and the Board’s final decision on Bhat’s candidature will be closely watched by applicants and stakeholders alike.
