Jammu and Kashmir – In a progressive move, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has accorded permission for police personnel to pursue higher studies through distance mode. This permission has been granted as per Government Order No.: 329-(Home) of 2024 dated 24.07.2024, following the reference letter from the Director General of Police, J&K (Letter No. Estt/G-38(1)/2018/18677-78 dated 08.07.2024).
The following police officials have been granted permission to enroll in distance education programs:

Conditions for Pursuing Higher Studies
The approval for these officials to engage in higher studies comes with specific conditions to ensure that their professional duties are not compromised. The conditions are as follows:
- Timing: The officials must pursue their courses outside of normal working hours, utilizing before and after office hours as well as holidays.
- Performance: The completion of the courses should not detract from their official duties. Should there be any neglect of duties due to their studies, the permission will be revoked immediately without prior notice, and disciplinary actions may be taken.
- Leave Policy: This permission does not entitle the officials to claim leave for preparation or examination purposes. Any leave required for such purposes will be subject to its admissibility and administrative interests as per the relevant rules.
- Course Recognition: The university/institute and the courses pursued must be recognized.
